FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ADV FILMS ANNOUNCES SCREENINGS AT INTERACTION

63RD WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION SCREENS ANIME 4TH- 8TH AUGUST 2005

LONDON, UK, 3RD AUGUST 2005 - ADV Films, the leading producer-distributor of anime in the U.K., is pleased to announce its participation in a very special event, the return to Europe of Worldcon, or World Science Fiction Convention. Providing an immense amount of fresh anime content as well as classic titles for their screening programme, ADV Films is very proud to see anime takings its place alongside more traditional features as part of the Film & TV content, as well as to be supplying the centrepiece presentation for Anime Expert & Author Jonathan Clement’s 3-part History of Anime lecture series.

Taking place in Glasgow’s SECC, the same site used by the Convention ten years ago, the new Norman Foster-designed Conference Centre is the breath-taking centrepiece for the event. For those not aware, the Worldcon, or World Science Fiction Convention, is the annual convention of the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS). Worldcons have been held each year since 1939 with the exception of the 2nd World War, in locations as diverse as the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Scotland, Germany, and The Netherlands. Science fiction and fantasy fans travel from all over the world to attend, including from Japan, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Norway, Finland, Croatia, New Zealand, and Russia. The legendary literary awards, the Hugos, are presented at a highlighted ceremony at the convention, nominated and voted upon by the members of the Worldcon. Other highlights of the Worldcon Program have included Nobel Prize winners, astronauts, scientists, writers, editors, publishers, artists, and fans, while the Guests of Honour is a Who’s Who of Science Fiction of the past 50 years. That the medium of anime now features so prominently in such a respected and important annual event is a testimony to both the changing times and the interests of anime creators in Japan, and ADV Films are pleased to be helping continue the relationship between Eastern and Western Science Fiction.
