Studio Ghibli's Toshio Suzuki to accept honorary degree from US college

Toshio Suzuki, on Studio Ghibli's behalf, will accept an honorary degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in June 2012 with a Q & A session, along with Ghibli film screenings.

Rhode Island School of Design have announced that Toshio Suzuki, film producer at Studio Ghibli, is to travel to the US college to attend their commencement ceremony as part of Ghibli accepting an honorary degree from the college on June 2nd 2012. The college said that Mr. Suzuki agreed to accept on behalf of the studio after consultation between himself and studio founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata.

Along with the degree being conferred on Studio Ghibli, Mr. Suzuki will attend a Q & A session at the RISD Auditorium with two Ghibli films being screened, Spirited Away and Only Yesterday, earlier in the week on May 31st 2012. The screenings are being shown in conjunction with the Providence Children’s Film Festival.
