Full Story
Ran by the good people behind Eat Japan the Otaku News crew were looking forward to it. We went to the trendy Brick Lane in London on Saturday 2nd of October to take a good look at the fun and games.
The atmosphere was great, there were lots of people in cosplay at there, plus lots of girls dressed in Lolita gear and the various sub genres of the style.
There was a bit of something for everyone, with stalls selling great Japanese food. Fashion was well represented with Baby, The Stars Shine Bright, Loves Change to name a few. The European Square Enix shop was selling some nice models, along with Chocobo plushies! Good Smile were focusing on their Black Rock Shooter range. In the same area Hobby Japan were tempting everyone with a nice selection of artbooks and figures.
Toei had a massive Chopper figure which got a huge amount of attention, everyone wanted to have their picture taken next to it.
JP-Books had an interesting selection of Evangelion stuff along with other interesting reads.
The stage was constantly used with a selection of interesting events. There was a manga drawing seminar, a cosplay competition and a fashion show.
There was a fair bit to see and do at the event, we just wish there was more to buy!
Attendees on Sunday may have been lucky enough to bump into Jonathan Ross was having a good look around too. ^_^
Hyper Japan promises to return next year if this years is a success. We hope it does!
