The good folks from MCM Comic Con have sent us details about their successful MCM Comic Con Manchester run (which took the city by storm on 28-29 July 2018). Along with a friendly reminder about their up-comic MCM Comic Con Events - MCM Scotland Comic Con which is set to run Saturday 22nd to Sunday 23rd September 2018 in Glasgow and MCM London Comic Con which is set to run from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th October 2018.

MCM COMIC CON TAKES MANCHESTER BY STORM!
The Walking Dead, Stargate and Infinity War stars draw in the crowds for MCM Comic Con's pop culture return to Manchester, alongside thousands of fans, guests and enthusiasts

AUGUST 2018 - MCM Comic Con, the UK's largest organiser of pop culture events returned to Manchester for a vibrant, interactive weekend; featuring everything from comics, movies, games and sci-fi to cosplay, anime, steampunk and online video Thousands of sci-fi fans, gamers, comic collectors, movie buffs and anime enthusiasts celebrated the latest and greatest in the world of pop culture, as they descended on Manchester Central on 28-29 July for MCM Comic Con Manchester. Taking the show by storm, award-winning video game voice actors Troy Baker and Nolan North unleashed their new YouTube show, Retro Replay, onto MCM audiences. With more than 350 combined voice and acting credits, the guys played through retro video games, with a healthy dose of their signature banter, before Troy treated fans to an after-hours performance of his music project Window to the Abbey. Joining them in MCM's special guest line up were Doctor Strangeand Avengers: Infinity War's star Benedict Wong, The Walking Dead's Khary Payton and Cooper Andrews, Christopher Judge (Stargate, God of War), Andrew Lee Potts (Primeval) and Zach McGowen (Black Sails, The 100).

MCM also brought glory and victory to Manchester with three of Overwatch's heroes in the form of Charlet Chung, Lucie Pohl and Gaku Space, alongside Phil LaMarr (Justice League, Futurama), Vic Mignogna (Full Metal Alchemist), Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect), Vanessa Marshall (Marvel and DC Cartoons) and Robin Atkin Downes (Team Fortress 2, Thundercats).

New for 2018, MCM unveiled a brand new CommunityZone, alongside the show's Comic Village, Main Stage, Live Stage and KidZone. Here fans were able to enhance their cosplay skills through workshops and tutorials, bond over their favourite fandom and get the ultimate Instagrammable photo op.

"It was wonderful to see so many fans turn out to spend their weekend with us," said Danny Aindow, MCM National Event Manger. "We brought some fantastic guests and content to the people of Manchester this year, and we love seeing the fans getting the chance to meet their heroes and experience what we have to offer on the show floor."

Among the steampunk features, Asian culture celebrations and children's entertainment, MCM hosted its best Manchester Comic Village line up yet, with Mike Garley; EMMY-nominated writer best known for writing comics for Adventure Time and Wallace and Gromit, alongside alongside Sarah Graley (who drew the Rick and Morty miniseries Lil' Poopy Superstar) and Gary Erskine (who has worked in the comic industry for near thirty years for MARVEL, DC Comics, Vertigo, Dark Horse Comics).

MCM Manchester highlights included the debut of the UK Championships of Cosplay; movie exclusives from both FrightFest and Fighting Spirit Short Film Festival; gamers networking and sharing with Streamers Connected; and a hilarious Twisted Toonz performance, taking on the script of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. "We had a great time sharing this edition of MCM Comic Con with Manchester fans," said Mary Franklin, Global Event Director at ReedPOP. "We've been talking with and listening to fans so we could present more of what they want to see and do. Hopefully we'll keep doing more and more of what they want in the MCM editions to come."

Next in the series is MCM Comic Con Scotland, taking place at the SEC on 22-23 September.
