Two earthquakes hit western Japan on Sunday the first a magnitude of 6.9 followed five hours later by a factor 7.3 earthquake. The earthquake was felt most keenly in Wakayama prefecture 280 miles west of the capital Tokyo, which only experienced mild shaking. Approximately 38 people were reported injured.
