A lawsuit filed by three plaintiffs in Kyoto who were unhappy with the Disney release of Spirited Away on DVD, has now been settled amicably.
Full Story
The three parties, including a Kyoto-based lawyer, brought the case to court after discovering that Walt Disney Co. Japan had altered the colors in the DVD release, leaving them "redish and dark".
However the charges were dropped after Disney Japan agreed to replace the DVDs, and provide a 10,000 Yen settlement.
Disney Japan have now accepted the settlement, and has expressed their regret for causing "misunderstanding and confusion" that this incident has caused, and added that they would clearly state if the data has been modified on any future releases.
