The good folks at anime giants Crunchyroll have sent us the details for the UK and Ireland cinema release of Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary Haikyu!! anime fans will be treated to a cinematic outing. It's set to hit cinemas around the UK from Friday 31st May 2024. It'll be released in both dubbed and subbed formats.
The Haikyu!! volleyball franchise is hugely popular with the manga selling 60 million copies in circulation. If you haven't seen it yet, you can also catch the series on Crunchyroll.
Plot synopsis as follows: Shoyo Hinata must join forces with his old nemesis Tobio Kageyama during the thrilling showdown between Karasuno and Nekoma high school in the highly anticipated "Dumpster Battle". Which team will remain standing when the two underdogs duke it out?

CRUNCHYROLL AT CINEMACON ANNOUNCE DATE FOR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SPORTS ANIME: HAIKYU!! THE DUMPSTER BATTLE
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the popular volleyball battler, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will bring the film to UK cinemas from 31st May
Crunchyroll, the ultimate home for anime worldwide, announced yesterday, at CinemaCon that it has acquired the North American and select international theatrical rights for HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle. Based on the beloved volleyball series HAIKYU!! Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment are set to spike the film into UK and Irish cinemas on 31st May and will be available in Japanese with English subtitles as well as with English dubbing.
Additional international theatrical release dates for the film include:
- 30th May: Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, and Switzerland (Italian)
- 31st May: Canada, Finland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States
- 12th June: Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland (French)
- 25th June: Austria, Germany
- 27th June: Switzerland (German)
HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle is currently the highest-grossing Japanese film of 2024, having earned 8.5 Billion Yen (~$57 Million USD) since the domestic release on 16th February.
Official Film Synopsis:
Shoyo Hinata joins Karasuno High's volleyball club to be like his idol, a former Karasuno player known as the "Little Giant." But, Hinata soon finds that he must team up with his middle school nemesis, Tobio Kageyama. Their clashing styles turn into a surprising weapon, but can they beat their rival Nekoma High in the highly anticipated "Dumpster Battle," the long awaited ultimate showdown between two opposing underdog teams?

About the HAIKYU!! franchise:
Based on the original Weekly Shonen Jump manga series from Haruichi Furudate, HAIKYU!! is a slice-of-life sports anime revolving around Shoyo Hinata's love of volleyball. Inspired by a small-statured player known as the "Little Giant," Hinata creates a team in his last year of middle school. His team is unfortunately matched up against "King of the Court'' Tobio Kageyama's team in their first tournament, inevitably losing.
After the crushing defeat, Hinata vows to surpass Kageyama. Entering high school, he joins the volleyball team only to find that Tobio has also joined, making his once rival his new teammate. The anime series HAIKYU!! is produced by TOHO animation.
