A few months ago, we posted some exciting news about Princess Mononoke being adapted for the stage. The Whole Hog Theatre are about to start auditions for the stage adaptation!

Auditions will be open to all, but the number of people they can see will be limited. The roles will be unpaid and voluntary (as are all roles within Whole Hog Theatre), but this is a great chance to get involved with an amazing theatrical event. People wishing to audition will need to sign up on-line from 8am on Thursday 25th October 2012.

Audition dates as follows:

Thursday 22nd November 2012 - New Diorama Theatre, London
Friday 23rd November 2012 - The Band Factory, Leamington Spa
Saturday 24th November 2012 - Warwick University Campus, Coventry

They'll also be looking for technical people too, such a Set Designer, Costume Designer, Technical Manager / Lighting Designer, Stage Manager, plus Hair and Makeup Design.

With the kind permission of Studio Ghibli, we are extremely excited to announce that we are OPENING AUDITIONS for Whole Hog Theatre’s stage adaptation of ‘Princess Mononoke’ based on the animated film, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki!

Auditions will be open to all, but unfortunately the number of people we can see is limited. The roles will be unpaid and voluntary (as are all roles within Whole Hog Theatre) but offer a chance to be involved with an incredible theatrical event. Those who wish to audition need to sign up for a slot via this online form; this will go live at 8am this coming Thursday (25th October).

PLEASE DO NOT TRY AND SIGN UP BEFORE THIS TIME AS YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE COUNTED AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REAPPLY FROM 8AM ON THURSDAY! Applications can only be submitted through this form and should not be emailed in.

The closing date will be Friday 9th November, but we are expecting a great deal of interest and will be operating on a first-come, first-served basis, so make sure you sign up early to avoid disappointment. Once they’re gone, they’re gone!

We will be holding three full days of first round auditions:

Thursday 22nd November – New Diorama Theatre, London
Friday 23rd November – The Band Factory, Leamington Spa
Saturday 24th November – Warwick University Campus, Coventry

All auditionees must memorise and perform a 30 second monologue of their choice and participate in a short physical workshop for the first round auditions. Please come dressed appropriately.

Any other information that you will need, including detailed directions on how to get to your chosen venue, will be emailed to you with the confirmation of your successful sign up, along with the time of your slot.

Please note that all recall auditions (two rounds) will be held the following week on Warwick University Campus, Coventry.

Should you be cast, all rehearsals will be on Warwick University campus, so cast members need to be able to commute easily, or relocate to the Leamington or Coventry areas. As this is an unpaid opportunity rehearsals would be part-time (weekday evenings and weekend rehearsals) but time commitment would increase in the run up to production week. Rehearsals will begin in earnest at the beginning of January, but R&D sessions will be happening the first three weekends of December for those who do not need to relocate or are based locally.

Confirmed production dates are the 2nd - 6th April 2013 at The New Diorama Theatre, London, but we very much hope to take this production further over the rest of 2013; please bear this in mind when choosing to audition.
