First Ever UK Exhibition to Celebrate an Anime Director

The good folks at anime distributors Anime Limited have just sent us details of the first ever UK exhibition to celebrate The Works of Mamoru Hosoda. The exhibition will run for one week only from Saturday 13th October until Saturday 20th October 2018 in Central London just off Oxford Street at Noho Studios, 46 Great Titchfield Street, London, W1W 7PZ.

The exhibition will also feature a shop, where visitors can purchase merchandise that is to be made available for the first time in the UK. This'll be a great chance to pick up a great selection of goodies.

It'll be open from 10:00 to 18:00. The event is free to enter. If you can get to London in that time frame we suggest you give this excellent exhibition a look in.

This is a perfect refresher to Mamoru Hosoda's world before catching a screening. Mirai will be screened around the UK on 2nd November 2018 for subtitled screenings and 4th November 2018 for dubbed screenings. You can find a screening near you by visiting the official Mirai UK film website.

The film also features at the BFI Film Festival on Sunday 14th October 2018 (the Saturday 13th October screenings have sold out).

If you can't get to London then Scotland Loves Anime will be showing it on Sunday 14th October in Glasgow and Saturday 20th October 2018 in Edinburgh and the Kotatsu Japanese Animation Festival will be showing the film at Aberystwyth on Sunday 21st October 2018.

As always for screenings we advise booking early to avoid disappointment. We also suggest catching this movie on the big screen while you can.

MAMORU HOSODA'S MIRAI: IN UK CINEMAS FROM 2nd NOVEMBER 2018

London, UK (17th September 2018) - Anime Limited and Noho Studios are partnering to bring an immersive and interactive visual event experience of the beautiful hit films of iconic Japanese anime director Mamoru Hosoda to the West End of London.

The first such exhibition dedicated to an anime director to ever come to the UK, for one week only, from Saturday 13th October until Saturday 20th October, walk through the creative wonders that made the beloved worlds and characters of Mamoru Hosoda's films from "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", up until the present day with "Mirai", which made history as the first Japanese anime film to have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The exhibition will also feature a shop, where visitors can purchase merchandise that is to be made available for the first time in the UK. Entry to the event is free.

Synopsis:

That is, until magical encounters with an older Mirai and family past, present and future send the siblings on an intimate journey through time and space, to confront Kun's uncertain feelings and prepare him to become the big brother he needs to be.

About Mamoru Hosoda:

Born in 1967, Mamoru Hosoda made his anime debut working for the now prestigious Toei Animation ("Dragon Ball Z"), where he later earned recognition for directing films in the iconic "Digimon" and "One Piece" franchises.

2005 saw a move to MADHOUSE Inc ("Paprika"), where his time-travelling romance "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and teen Sci-Fi "Summer Wars" received widespread acclaim, before he moved studios yet again. In 2011, he and producer Yuichiro Saito formed "Studio Chizu", where he helmed two distinct films of family against a fantasy backdrop: "Wolf Children" and "The Boy and the Beast".

Mamoru Hosoda is currently the most prolific director of the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year, with his four films released since the category's 2007 establishment all being awarded the accolade.
