We've been impressed with the UK Zipangu Fest line up so far. But we believe that this latest screening is something special.

Londoners will be treated to Beyond Anime: CALF Animation, at 6pm, Sunday 3rd April 2011 at the ROXY Bar and Screen.

Apart from a rare chance to see an alternative side to anime, what makes the event so special is the ticket pricing. There is no set price for admission, you pay what you want with all proceeds going toward the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund.

Zipangu Fest Japanese Film Festival Announces Tsunami Relief Charity Screening

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

In light of recent tragic events brought upon by the devastating earthquake and tsunami on the Tohoku region of Japan, Zipangu Fest Japanese Film Festival is offering support to our friends and families in Japan by hosting a charity screening of Beyond Anime: CALF Animation for Play for Japan. This charity screening of the much-acclaimed animation shorts programme that screened at last year's Zipangu Fest is a benefit event officially organised in conjunction with the Play for Japan charity organisation.

There will be no set price for admission. Instead we will be accepting donations of any amount with all proceeds going toward the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund.

CALF Animation is a selection of cutting-edge animated shorts from the minds of award-winning animators Atsushi Wada, Mirai Mizue, Kei Oyama and TOCHKA (Takeshi Nagata and Kazue Monno) that will showcase another, more inventive, side of Japanese animation to British audiences.

The screening will take place 18:00 on Sunday, April 3rd at Roxy Bar & Screen, London.

About Zipangu Fest
The first UK-wide festival devoted to Japanese film, Zipangu Fest will introduce works new and old, previously unseen by mainstream UK film audiences, to demonstrate the many identities of Japan as depicted by some of the country's most exciting and revered talents.

For its main event last year, Zipangu Fest held over 15 screenings and other related events at venues across London's vibrant East End. Cinema venues included the Barbican, Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel, Café 1001 in Brick Lane and the Working Men's Club in Bethnal Green. The main body of film events took place in London from November 23rd to 28th 2010, with regional events that occurred early this year in Bristol and Coventry, and an upcoming programme in Newcastle from April 7-17.

Play For Japan is officially supported by The Japan Society of the UK. All Proceeds of their associated events go directly to the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund. Play for Japan has been set up to support the Earthquake relief effort in Japan. Play for Japan fulfills this role by allowing young Bands, DJs, Artists and Sports teams to set up their own fundraising events and donate the proceedings to the relief effort.

They do not take donations directly but instruct interested parties on how to donate their money to the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund and other official charities.
