It's a busy time for J-music fans in the UK! Not only is J-Pop Go a regular event but there are also numerous other things happening. This includes a benefit performance for Mika Bomb's drummer Ergi on the 15th of May and the It came from Japan, Japanese music showcase which is running across England from the 16th-20th May.

Mika Bomb:
UPDATE! NEW ACTS CONFIRMED! ERGI-LOVE SWELLS!
Japanese trash-punk queens Mika Bomb play The Garage, London, on 15 May 2006 to raise cash for their poorly drummer, Ergi. Support comes from Brighton popstrels The Pipettes, swoonsome Londoners The Boyfriends and seedy pop boys Piranha Deathray. White Heat founder Matty will DJ, so bring your dancing shoes. Tickets are on sale now, priced £10 (and the same price on the night).
Ergi Ahmed fell ill on 10 December 2005, and was rushed to hospital with septicaemia (blood poisoning). The infection led to a near-fatal, week-long coma which Ergi miraculously survived. However, doctors were forced to amputate both of his legs below the knee.
Ergi is now in good spirits, racing about in a wheelchair and beginning training with prosthetic legs, but is unable to work to support his wife and kids. He’d prefer you to imagine he was in a motorbike accident and landed in a crocodile-infested swamp, incidentally.
This will be Mika Bomb’s first UK date of 2006, so expect plenty of rock’n’roll excess and knicker-flashing. Debbie Lane, a close friend and occasional drummer with the band, will keep Ergi’s drum stool warm at the show. The Pipettes have generously fit the gig into a hectic schedule, and we are pleased to announce the addition of The Boyfriends, Piranha Deathray and White Heat’s Matty to the bill. The first 50 through the door will get a free CD courtesy of Damaged Goods. There will also be a raffle and other surprises to put the fun into fundraising.
Please come along and let us fleece you.
