The folks at Go Fish Pictures have informed us about the opening weekend for the US release of Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence, in three days it's grossed $312,568 and is the #1 movie in 22 of the 48 screens it's playing at. This is as always good news for Anime fans. ^_^

Huge opening for "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence"!
Movie lovers and anime fans across the country rushed to theaters this weekend to finally catch "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence," making the long awaited sequel to Mamoru Oshii's widely influential "Ghost in the Shell" an instant hit.
In just three days, "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" has already grossed an astounding $312,568 in U.S. theaters and become the #1 movie in 22 of the 48 screens it is playing at, including the renowned Arclight Hollywood in Los Angeles and Sunshine Cinema in New York.
The hit anime film, which was the first to ever compete for Cannes' coveted Palme d'Or, also had the distinction this weekend of getting the highest per screen average--over $6,500--of any film currently playing in U.S. theaters.
In addition to its existing playdates, "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" will expand in 7 more theaters this Friday and open in Baltimore, MD; Denver, CO; New Mexico; and Sacramento, CA.
