Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- UK and Ireland Cinema Release Details

The good folks from anime publishers Anime Limited have sent us details for the upcoming cinema release of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-. The latest offering in the Gundam Franchise is a bit different as this is a collaboration between studio khara, the studio behind the Evangelion rebuild movies and Sunrise, the animation traditionally behind the MS Gundam animated works.

The movie is directed by industry veteran Kazuya Tsurumaki best known for his work with Hideaki Anno on the Evangelion Series as well as the truly trippy FLCL. He teams up with other anime veterans to make this film including Yoji Enokido, screenwriter for anime including as Revolutionary Girl Utena, Bungo Stray Dogs, and FLCL and is billed as as Series Supervisor and Screenwriter.

The movie will hit cinemas around the UK and Ireland from Saturday 15th March 2025.

If you're really into Gundam you'll want to get tickets for the BFI IMAX Screening in London on Thursday 13th March 2025. They'll have a special previewing screening where attendees will also receive an exclusive free sample trading card from the forthcoming Gundam Card Game TCG which is released later in July.

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe and Anime Limited are proud to announce the distribution of the highly anticipated Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- to UK & Irish cinemas. In the first-ever major collaboration between EVANGELION Series creator Hideaki Anno's studio khara, and Sunrise, the historic home to the Mobile Suit Gundam animated works, the project brings together an all-star roster of top animation creatives who have created some of the most memorable and acclaimed anime works of
the last 30 years. The movie has been a success in Japan being #1 in the box office for its first two weeks.

The film is directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, known for his work with Anno on the EVANGELION series, as well as the original anime, FLCL. Yoji Enokido, screenwriter for such hits as Revolutionary Girl Utena, Bungo Stray Dogs, and the original anime FLCL, is attached as Series Supervisor and Screenwriter, and is joined by the acclaimed Hideaki Anno for the screenplay. Illustrator Take (Katanagatari, Zaregoto, Pokemon Series) serves as character designer, with Ikuto Yamashita (EVANGELION Series, Shin Kamen Rider) as the mechanical designer. studio khara, famed for their work on the EVANGELION Series, joins forces with SUNRISE, the legendary studio behind the Mobile Suit Gundam Series, to create a film that is both visually stunning and narratively complex.

Synopsis
Amate Yuzuriha is a high-school student living peacefully in a space colony floating in outer space. When she meets a girl named Nyaan, Amate is drawn into the illegal mobile suit duelling sport known as Clan Battle. Under the entry name "Machu" she throws herself into fierce battle day after day, piloting the GQuuuuuuX. Then an unidentified Gundam mobile suit pursued by both the space force and the police appears before her, along with its pilot, a boy named Shuji. Now their world is about to enter a new era.

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe is thrilled to bring this extraordinary film to UK & Irish audiences. Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- will premiere on 15th March 2025 and will be screened in select theatres. Fans of the Gundam Series, as well as newcomers, can both expect breathtaking animation, compelling storytelling, and cutting-edge mecha designs that push the boundaries of the genre.

As part of the release a special preview screening will take place at BFI IMAX, the UK's largest screen, on 13th March to celebrate the release with fans across London. This special preview, open to the public, will also see attendees receive an exclusive free sample trading card from the forthcoming Gundam Card Game TCG which launch on July 11th.
